Oh this baby...
My favorite moments with her are at night when our room is dark and still. I'm always nearing sleep when she gives me a firm tap on the belly. No matter how sleepy I am, it always brings a huge smile to my face. A smile that I know no one else sees as I lie there and gently rub over the spot that she's called me from. She taps me again, right where my hand is and in fact, she moves her taps to follow where ever my hand goes. It's a fun game we play. I like to imagine she's giving me a few big high fives at the end of the day. For not crying over the little aches that my body has. For not stressing over packing and our impending move. For being her mama and being ever so careful and passionate about this process.
She's getting heavier. I can feel it when I try to roll from my left side to my right, right to left. It's so surreal. Her rolling movement is nothing like her taps or kicks. It's almost as if it happens in slow motion. I'll roll over and then feel her slowly moving to follow to be on the side I now lay on. It's completely captivating. I lay so still, trying to capture the moment mentally because I've never ever felt anything like it. I catch myself holding my breath and I breathe deep and feel her settle within. Now is the time for sleep. We're both settled, and I drift off.
Those are my favorite moments with her. When our world is quiet. When all I can here is the gentle hum of the fan, and all I can feel is the warmth of her daddy's back facing mine. When she nudges me from sleep and we play our little game, just us two before settling into slumber. Those are my absolute, most favorite.
